Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups frozen pineapple chunks
- 2 cups frozen strawberries
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for pineapple slush)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for strawberry slush)
- 1/2 cup cold water (for pineapple slush)
- 1/2 cup cold water (for strawberry slush)
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice (optional, for brightness)
- Fresh mint sprigs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the pineapple slush. In a high-speed blender, combine the frozen pineapple chunks, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and 1/2 cup cold water.
- Step 2: Blend the pineapple mixture on high speed until completely smooth and a thick slushie consistency is achieved. If too thick, add a tablespoon of water at a time until desired consistency. Pour into a separate container and set aside. Rinse the blender pitcher.
- Step 3: Prepare the strawberry slush. In the clean blender, combine the frozen strawberries, the remaining 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and the remaining 1/2 cup cold water. Optionally, add the fresh lime juice here for a tangy kick.
- Step 4: Blend the strawberry mixture on high speed until completely smooth and a thick slushie consistency is achieved, similar to the pineapple blend. Adjust with more water if necessary.
- Step 5: To serve, alternately spoon or pour scoops of the pineapple and strawberry slush into tall glasses, creating a beautiful swirled effect. Garnish with fresh mint sprigs if desired and serve immediately.
Notes
- For the best frosty texture, savor your beautiful swirled slushies right after blending. If any melts, simply refreeze it in an ice cube tray to blend again later for a quick refresh or add to sparkling water.
- Should your slushie start to lose its chill, a quick 15-20 minute stint in the freezer, followed by a brief re-blend, will bring back that perfect icy consistency and vibrant swirl.
- Elevate your serving by layering the slushies with a dollop of vanilla yogurt or a shot of rum extract for an adult-friendly summer cocktail.
- Achieving that perfect thick, spoonable consistency is key; always start with slightly less water and add more sparingly until it's smooth and holds its shape for beautiful swirls.
